Trick or Treat

It was a big weekend around here. It’s Teacher’s Convention, so Noah had Thursday and Friday off. Caden had Friday off. Noah’s birthday was on Thursday, when we had his birthday party. We had our families over on Friday to celebrate. Then Saturday was Halloween.

Seeing as Halloween falls 8 days after my birthday and two days after Noah’s, it’s hard for me to transition and really get into the Halloween proceedings. I’ve never really liked Halloween. It’s kind of freaky. After spending 6 years in Madison, having experienced what is now called “Freak Fest”, I think I got more turned off of Halloween. But seeing how excited the boys get about dressing up and getting out to trick or treat, I can remember how it was to be their age, and I can get into it enough to make it fun for all of us.

As if we didn’t have enough sweets and junk food around our house, the boys had to head out to trick or treat around our neighborhood on Saturday afternoon. And seeing as it’s Wisconsin, the weather had to cool off just in time to get outside! So our Clone Commander Cody and Obi Wan Kenobi had to wear stocking caps and multiple layers under their outfits.

We went down the street to meet up with our friends Maddie and Katie, (who sadly moved to a new house today. Noah and Maddie used to be in the same classroom at school, but they’ve moved into a new district. But luckily Katie and Caden are still in school together.) and then the kids ran off to hit up a few houses. Andy even got a treat from one house-a cold can of Miller Lite, with a can coozy!

Then we met up with our friends Matthew and Sophie who we don’t get to see very often, so it was a real treat.

Maddie and Katie headed back home and we set off with Matthew and Sophie to see our friends Ethan, Molly, Peter (all siblings), and Rob over at Ethan’s house.

Then it was time to head home, stopping at a few houses on the way back. We saw these cheaters on our street. It’s an SUV with the back hatch open, pulling a trailer with hay bales so the kids could sit in the back.

The kids had a great time, and I enjoyed seeing all of the costumes. And now the boys have more dress-up clothes! Now, bring on Thanksgiving!
