This afternoon, I went to my parents’ house to pick up the boys after my day at work. As I said in my last post, there are a ton of kids on my parents’ court, so the boys love Monday afternoons. As I pulled into the court, I was almost hit head-on by a Barbie Power Wheels car driven by one of the girls on the court, Hallie, with another girl, Emily, in the passenger seat. Caden, Noah, and yet another girl, Hannah, were chasing the car. It seemed like the kids were having a blast. Never mind that Hallie was a terrible driver! She didn’t have much control over her gas pedal!
After a while, Hannah got into the driver’s seat, with Emily still as a passenger. Noah and Caden were still having fun chasing them. Suddenly I looked over, and saw Caden being dragged by the car, Hannah blissfully unaware of the chaos behind her. The radio was on and the car is pretty loud, but still, Caden was screaming! Hannah’s mom and I started yelling for her to stop. After what felt like an eternity, Hannah stopped and I got over to Caden. He was crying, but seemed more scared than hurt. I looked at his legs and saw the holes in the knees of his sweatpants. I pointed them out to him, and he started laughing! No harm, no foul, I guess! We rounded up the kids and headed to our respective homes, and I piled the boys into the car to head home.
We got home and I figured I should take a look at Caden’s knees. He had a pretty good scrape/road rash on his left knee! You never would have guessed based on his reactions! He’s a pretty tough little guy. We got him cleaned up, put a Diego Band-Aid on, and we’re good to go! I’m going to keep reminding the boys they shouldn’t hold onto the back of a Power Wheels car while it’s moving!
Ouch!!!!
