It’s time for the winter 2009 edition of 7 Days, so here’s my first entry.

I had to work today, and I had to take advantage of the time of year to wear my Santa/snowman scrub top. Yes, it’s quite obnoxious, but aren’t all scrub tops? They’re comfy, they have big pockets, and I don’t care if they get dirty. So that’s why I wear them. Besides, all the cool kids are doing it at work!
I’m not giving anything away. I don’t have enough readership for that. I’d just end up giving it to a family member, I’m sure!
No, MckMama is hosting an AWESOME giveaway at her blog. She’s giving away Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2. I sooooo want this! And seeing as I’ve had a pretty lucky year (see here and here, and I also won a year’s membership to Clickin’ Moms recently, but didn’t blog about it), I thought I’d throw in for another chance to win!
Grammie Mommy is also hosting a giveaway-more of a dual giveaway between the two of them, so I’m going to try to win Photoshop Elements 8 from her!
Go on over to check out their blogs, but don’t enter-I don’t need any more competition!

I liked the challenge presented to us by Beth this week, but I wish I’d worked on it before tonight! But I love decorating for Christmas. It helps to have Mr. Christmas living in our house-Andy loves this time of year. So we have a good time decorating.
Here are some of my favorites (all edited using Picnik):
One of my favorite ornaments. One of my first ornaments, actually. With some yummy bokeh!

I love this picture! Noah is just over 2 years old, and Caden is just 17 days old in this picture! And you don’t need to adjust the color-Caden was a bit jaundiced at birth!

I started collecting Santas a few years ago. These are some of my newest ones.

Of course Mickey should be included in some decor around here!

A reminder.

Meet Jingles, our Elf on the Shelf. She watches the boys, then reports back to Santa at night. The boys figured out “she’s just a doll” this year, so we explained she’s like the toys in “Toy Story” and she only comes to life when we’re not here, or when we’re sleeping! Not bad, huh?

I love our Nativity scene. I love the Demdaco stuff.

Finally, my mantle. I think I’m going to change it up a little bit next year. I’ll see what kinds of deals I can get on stuff after Christmas! But I love the red and silver theme. And our new stockings make me smile.

What’s your favorite holiday decor? What do you look forward to unpacking every year? Peek into some other homes over at Beth’s!

I admit, I’ve been a little wrapped up in Caden’s birthday, today’s snow day for Noah, and Christmas preparations that I didn’t get a chance to go out and take any pictures of lines this week. Yes, I’m admitting I cheated on Beth’s assignment this week. But I like these lines nonetheless!
We park at the same spot for every home Badger game we go to, and we’re lucky enough to get the tubas to march down by us to perform a song or two. It’s so fun!

And no matter how many times I go downtown, and no matter how many times I go to the Milwaukee Art Museum, I never get tired of this view.

Or this one.

Or this one.

Now go and see what other lines people captured!
My baby is four. How did this happen? I swear we just brought him home from the hospital! Here he was then:

Santa even came to the hospital! (Please ignore my double-chin in this shot. Having a 10+ pound baby will do that to you!)

Here’s Caden today:

It has been a wonderful, entertaining, full of laughter, often challenging, fulfilling four years. He amazes us everyday with his imagination, enthusiasm, energy, excitement, and love. I love my baby with all of my heart. What’s to come?
I’m going to give this another shot. I love this picture of Caden sleeping. His hair is awesome! And thanks to the fun on Picnik through my Flickr account, I was able to do some fun processing to the picture. Isn’t it dreamy?
You can see more here.
I read an article in a magazine about a family that comes up with holiday-related activities for days leading up to Christmas, starting on December 1. They put them in pockets on their hanging Advent calendar. I thought it sounded really fun. I love the idea of starting a tradition like this in our family. So I devised my plan.
Since we don’t currently have a nice Advent calendar (though I’ve always wanted a good quality one), I had to come up with another option. I found an idea online that made envelopes to hang on the wall. I didn’t have time to make envelopes, but I found nice holiday-themed scrapbooking paper and made little cards, dated them, and pasted one activity on each card. I then tacked them to the wall in the shape of a Christmas tree, using poster putty. See?

Our first day, Tuesday, involved decorating the tree. Yesterday, we shopped for “The Giving Tree”. We picked a tag from a tree at church that had the name of a local foster child, their age, and their wish list. We picked a 9-year-old girl who asked for Saucer Scramble, so we headed out to Wal-Mart to pick one up.
Today, our activity was to make paper snowflakes. Fun!

Tomorrow, we watch “Home Alone”! Should be fun!

In other news, I WON! I won the Tiny Prints giveaway Beth was holding! I can’t wait to put together our card for this year!

Beth challenged us to tell a story using photos of what makes us happy. I decided spending time with my boys makes me happy. Decorating the Christmas tree while listening to Christmas music makes me happy. And some yummy bokeh makes me happy!

Weren’t they cute little babies?

After

My special sock duck ornament!

It was a fun night. And our tree is so pretty. On with the season!
There are many more stories-go check some out!

I’m giving it a go again! Here’s the tooshie shot I chose to enter in the contest this week:

My aunt made a good point: it’s 2-for-1! I love this shot. Andy is reading to Caden. Why Caden chose to sit on Andy’s back like that is beyond me!
Check out other entries!
30 posts in 30 days. Done. Yeah me! And I think most of my content was pretty worthwhile!
I’ll try not to be too much of a stranger, but I’ll try to save posts for times when I have something that may be interesting to you 7 readers.
But first a couple of things.
1. The theme at I Heart Faces this week is “We heart Tooshies”! I have a few options. I need some help deciding which to post.

That last one may be a stretch, but I love it! I think I’m leaning toward the one of Caden on Andy’s shoulders, or the one of Noah at the beach. What do you think?
2. Over at “I Should Be Folding Laundry”, Beth is hosting a giveaway for a gift certificate to Tiny Prints. I love, love, LOVE their cards, and I’d love some money off there! (The prices are a bit too steep for me right now.) So check it out!
Okay, off to bed for me! I’ll be back someday soon, but probably not tomorrow!
