Two more days

That’s all I have left for NaBloPoMo. Thank goodness! I’m losing steam very quickly! I’m lacking a bit in topic for tonight.

I could write about our slow Christmas decorating process.

I could write about Andy touching up practically every nick and scratch in our wood trim on the first floor this weekend (we have a BUNCH of wood trim!).

I could write about the boys naming Optimus Prime “Octopus Prime” who fights “Demastator” (Devastator).

I could write about Noah wanting to wrap toys we already have so the boys could play Santa and St. Nick.

I could write about the three times one of the boys managed to pull down one of our heavy stocking holders while trying to pull down a stocking, mercifully missing their heads each time.

I could write about the one time Noah pulled down the stocking holder and unfortunately hit our laptop that was open on the brick hearth below. Hello cracked monitor!

Hmmmm. As I look at this list, it’s apparent my “Sunday Blues” are in full force today. Thank goodness for “Extreme Makeover Home Edition” and “The Amazing Race”. They’re nice distractions. I’ll try to finish with a bang tomorrow!

Meet “Octopus Crime”

Last night, Caden and Noah made a wish on the wishbone from my mother-in-law’s Thanksgiving turkey. Caden won, and told Andy he wished for Bumblebee from the “Tranformers” movie. Not that he’s ever seen the movie or anything!

Anyway, today when we were there to pick the boys up (they slept over last night, which allowed me to sleep until a heavenly 9:30 this morning!), Andy went down in the basement with his mom to look at some of his old toys. He came back upstairs with what looked like a semi-trailer cab. It was actually a Transformer. It was Optimus Prime to be exact. Andy told Caden that it was for him, and that his wish had come true. Caden looked like he had gotten the best present ever!

It’s been hard to get it out of his hands since this morning.

(I love his face in this one! His nose crinkles up more than this when he’s working hard at something.)

(In this one, he’s saying “Cheese!” with a deep voice, like Optimus Prime would!)

Oh, and he calls him “Octopus Crime”! It’s so sweet, I don’t want to correct him!

Meme

I’m really tired today. I haven’t been sleeping very well. I sleep fine until about 5:00 or so, then it’s sort of off and on, until I give up and get up around 6:00 or so. I’m thinking I need to pick up some Tylenol PM or something! And I’m going to see “Rent” tonight with my sister-in-law and I really want to be awake for it! And then I’m meeting up with friends, so I’ve been napping on the couch.

Anyway, I found this meme on Minnesota Mom‘s website, so I thought I’d use it. I don’t have much else to say today. So here it goes!

You Capture: Food

Photobucket

I wasn’t going to participate in Beth’s challenge this week. I’m not much of a cook, and I don’t often have my camera at restaurants. But then I thought of my rolls. Not around my waist! I made yummy rolls for Thanksgiving! They’re nothing special. Just frozen Rhodes dough. But soooooo tasty!

Soon to come: Swedish Coffee Cake! Our Christmas tradition. Mmmmmmm! I’m drooling! Here’s a picture of one I made for Easter:

Random events from today

This morning we headed downtown to the children’s museum with our friends, Steph, Maddie, and Katie. It’s always a fun thing to do with the kids, and even more fun today was driving down all together in the minivan. The kids were crazy! And then while we were there, Caden and Katie found their buddy, Sydney, from their preschool class. New crush?

We also found a very disturbing mirror.

We walked back to the car, and under the windshield wiper on my back window, I found a card with some slips of paper stapled to it. Turns out, those slips of paper were 4 tickets to Weezer, and 4 tickets to another concert coming up at a local venue. The tickets say “Free Ticket Thursday” on them. It’s not Thursday, but maybe they’re giving them out early because of the holiday. What I’m really wondering, though, is who decided that I fit the demographic-driving a minivan, parked at the children’s museum? Whatever. What bums me out, is that Andy has already bought a ticket to that show! Anyone want to buy his ticket? Or at least split the cost?

This evening we took Caden to get his haircut. How cute is he?!

His cute little cowlick!

Noah and Caden recently learned the silly verse of “Jingle Bells”. You know, the one where “Batman smells” and “Robin laid an egg”. So today Noah decided to make puppets of the main “characters” so he could put on a show.

And how sweet are my boys? (Some of these shots are a little blurry-new lens, doesn’t autofocus. New camera needed?)

Handmade for the Holidays

Have you discovered Etsy? I was introduced to Etsy by my dear SIL, Catheroo. It is a great site to find all things handmade. There are the odd things (WARNING: GRAPHIC MATERIAL! I did not discover these myself! Seriously!), pretty things, weird things, and everything in between.

Over at Beth’s blog, I Should Be Folding Laundry, she’s hosting a Mr. Linky for Etsy sellers to “advertise” their goods. Many of the items on Etsy are inexpensive, and there are options for everyone on your Christmas list. So head over to Beth’s to check out some options. You may be done shopping before Black Friday!

Uninspired

So it’s Monday night, and I’m at a loss as to what to write about. I finished day three of four work days in a row, and I’m getting a little burned out. Luckily, yesterday and today were fairly short days, and tomorrow is shaping up to be a bit of the same. But I’m still tired.

Possible topics:
-I could write about our fun time at the Waukesha Holiday parade yesterday, but I don’t feel like dealing with pictures right now.
-I could write about our living room furniture and hanging art shuffle, but I’d probably have to include pictures, and I don’t feel like that right now.
-I could write about my bladder infection that I’m nursing, but I don’t feel like that right now (and I don’t think anyone cares about the details!).

So I’m just gonna go to bed. ‘Night!

Wait! Anyone out there have any ideas for fun holiday-type family activities we can do with the boys? My hope is to have some holiday-type thing to do every day in December. My list has 10 items on it, so I need 14 more. Help!

Global warming?

This was the temperature today around 3:30 pm:

Temp 11-22-09

If this is global warming, keep it coming!

I don’t get it

I didn’t read the “Twilight” books. I never had any interest in them. I’m not really into the vampire thing. I didn’t really like “Interview With a Vampire”, and the Count on Sesame Street always kind of bugged me. I think I heard some people comparing them to Harry Potter, but I don’t see much of a comparison there. My friends who have read the series give mixed reviews.

So I’ve been somewhat perplexed by the hype over “New Moon”. There’s stuff everywhere about it! About half of the blogs I read have had some sort of post about it. There’s the whole “Team Jacob” vs. “Team Edward” thing (I just had to look that up to remember the names!). The actors have been making their way through the press circuit. And when I drove past the local theater tonight, I saw more cars in the parking lot than ever before. Even Noah commented on it-“Whoa! There must be a movie a lot of people want to see at the movie theater.”

I was actually only one degree of separation away from “Jacob”, Taylor Lautner (who is reportedly dating Taylor Swift, who I think is a terrible live performer! That’s a whole other post!). I met his grandfather in the hospital. He was extremely proud of his grandson. I wasn’t really sure who he was-it was pre-“Twilight”.

Anyway, I’m having a hard time understanding the excitement this weekend. But to each their own. Andy and I don’t get out much to see movies, so we have to be pretty picky about what we see. And I’ve learned that I don’t want to waste time reading books or watching movies that don’t interest me. There are too many books to read and too many movies to see that interest me much more. So just tell me how the series ends, and let’s get on with life. Or better yet, don’t tell me, because I really know nothing about it all!
