We’ve been very busy this weekend. We’ve been busy having FUN! (This is a REALLY long post, so hang in there!)
We’ll start with this past Thursday night, when Andy and I headed down to Summerfest to check out O.A.R. with some friends. It was packed, but we were able to claim a section of a picnic table so we had our dance floor! It was a perfect night for an outdoor concert, and we had a ton of fun.
We had the choice of “hands”, “chair” or “green”. I debated doing “green” and “chair” as I started covering our kitchen table chairs with green fabric, but then I decided to go with “hands”. My boys’ hands are very busy, very much of the time.
Busy playing “Rock, paper, scissors” to determine who has to take a shower first (Noah lost [this was a practice run], then threw a fit, thereby losing the opportunity to watch a movie tonight, but that’s a different story!)
Busy building LEGO “guys”
Soothing and calming to get ready to sleep
And my hands are constantly busy, typing, cooking (ha!), cleaning (HA!), driving, assisting, tickling… But this is what I’d like my hands to do more often:
I wonder what other people chose to capture this week? Let’s go check it out!
This was a fun challenge. Well, they’re pretty much all fun, but this one leaves so much open to interpretation.
I started with a shot of my mother-in-law’s beautiful garden. Mind you, this isn’t anywhere NEAR her entire garden. Her yard is just gorgeous. Granted, she has her summers off (she’s an elementary school librarian), so she can spend the time tending her flowers. The light on these yellow flowers was just lovely.
And I got down low while the boys were playing in the driveway last night.
(I don’t know why Caden insisted on wearing jeans when the temperature was about 80 degrees and the humidity was about 2000%!)
I got the camera down low to capture this shot of me and one of my daisies.
I had images of taking shots of the boys as they played in the sprinkler, slid along the slip-n-slide, or splashed in the pool. But our lovely Wisconsin weather had other plans. There were some cooler temperatures, a lot of clouds, and quite a bit of rain. So rain will have to suffice for “water” for this week.
I’ve found it to be quite difficult to capture the rain with my camera as it falls so I found evidence of the previous rain.
A puddle on the deck with a reflection of the tree overhead.
Raindrops on petals of the flowers and on leaves in my garden.
Head over to Beth’s to check out some more shots of water!
I wanted to join in on another I Heart Faces challenge, and this week it was “All About Babies”. It’s been about four years since I’ve had a baby living in my house (though Caden will always be my “baby”!) but I had the opportunity to babysit my friend’s little guy a couple of months ago. I did a little impromptu photo shoot with him. I’m not really ready to go into business yet, but it was fun!
There will be babies galore over at I Heart Faces this week, so check them out!
Ah, early June. It must mean the last day of school! Unbelievably, Noah is finishing kindergarten today. He’s been so excited because his teacher said she’d call the kids kindergarteners this morning, and then after lunch she’d start calling them first graders. Cute!
What a change in such a short time!
Just before lunch, the kids sang a song for the parents. It was “Goodbye Kindergarten, Movin’ On to First Grade!” It started some waterworks for me! (Noah’s head is barely visible on the left)
There was an all-school picnic out on the playground and surrounding areas.
Noah has some great buddies. Here he is with Andrew B. and Logan.
And here’s a group of kids from his class getting ready to go back inside after lunch recess.
And here’s Noah with his teacher, Mrs. Gokey. (Yep, THAT Gokey! She’s married to his brother!) She was an amazing teacher, so wonderful, so patient, so caring. We’ll miss her!
Kindergarten was a great year! Movin’ on to first grade!
Today was the performance of Noah’s Kindergarten Circus. It was such a fun production! Noah was an elephant.
There were (from left to right) ringmasters, tightrope walkers, horses, elephants, giraffes, strongmen, lions, monkeys, clowns, and a human cannonball. Yep! There really was a human cannonball!
