I wish I’d taken a bit more time this past week to really get out with my camera to focus on taking pictures, rather than grabbing it when something was going on. I wish I could do that any week! But here’s a shot of one of my shrub roses in my garden.

Here’s what my dear hubby got for me. It’s been a wonderful nine years. I so look forward to what’s to come. Remembering those who have sacrificed for our freedom…
…with unending gratitude. It’s hard to believe it’s already the end of May! The end of May means the end of preschool for the year. Even though Caden will be going to the “extension program” for the next two weeks, today was his official last day with his regular class. Look at how he’s changed! He had a great class, with a wonderful teacher. (I should have used my flash or something, because my shots are a bit blurry. Sigh.) Best buds! Sweet friends. Cuties! Hugs goodbye. Caden will be back at this school in the fall, going Monday through Thursday mornings. I want to hang onto him just a bit longer, before sending him out to school five days a week! YIKES!
I didn’t do much for this week’s assignment until today. I wasn’t sure if I was going to come up with anything, and then Mother Nature sent us a weird weather system that dumped huge raindrops on our house (and all over the inside, too, since our windows were open!) and brought enough thunder and lightning to cancel Noah’s soccer game. This is what the sky looked like just after it stopped raining. This is the sky over the house across the street from us. It’s quite light to the left (the south) and has ominous clouds to the right (the north). Here’s the view to the north from the middle of our street. And this is what it looked like to the south after I turned 180 degrees. This is another view to the north. I love the shades of green on the trees. And finally, here’s a shot of the sunset taken with my point and shoot. Go over to Beth’s to see other captures of the sky.  Over at I Heart Faces, the theme is “Yellow”. While snapping away as the boys played outside today, I realized the Slip ‘N Slide was yellow, and I could maybe catch a fun shot to enter this week. I happen to really like this one!
You can see a lot more yellow over at I Heart Faces! The temperature was in the low 90’s again today, extremely unseasonably warm, and very humid. So we pulled out our sprinkler and Slip ‘N Slide! (Warning: LOTS of pictures ahead!) At first, they weren’t so sure.
I really didn’t think I’d get this post up and ready. I’m up to my elbows in rummage sale stuff. We’ve been prepping for weeks, and finally the weekend is here and we’ve got wonderful weather! I’m purging a bunch of baby stuff, and it feels kind of good (even though I’m sad that we’re probably done having kids)! Anyway, Beth challenged us to work on some depth of field pictures, trying to capture some yummy bokeh. (I don’t know why I call it yummy, but it fits!) Anyway, I got out my camera this morning and headed across the street to my neighbor’s yard. I’ve been admiring her alium for the past few days, and I figured it would make a good subject for this week’s challenge.

After work today (a day I thought would be short, where I’d be home by 12:00, but ended up being a long, full day), I was ready to come home and relax on the sofa, reading the paper, looking at catalogs from the mail, and finishing Thursday’s episode of “The Real Housewives of New York” (it’s like a train wreck!). Andy had taken Noah to a friend’s house and was then taking Caden to the driving range, so I figured I had some time to kill. Then Andy called to say that Caden was upset that he couldn’t hang out with the big boys, and wanted to go mini-golfing, then out to dinner with us. I wasn’t really in the mood, having skipped lunch (though the three Twizzlers I ate really helped fill me up!), but Andy said I should have a snack, and come along. So off we went. I’m glad I did. Caden celebrated a hole-in-one on the second hole. He showed his great putting form. He checked for anyone in the tube from an upper level. He studied his line. I got a hole-in-one! Then it was time to hit the driving range. Caden grabbed his clubs. Andy and Caden headed for the driving range. We had our choice of tee boxes. Caden was warmed up and ready to roll. He took a couple of “practice swings” (and made sure we understood they were just practice!). He showed his unique stance. Another practice swing (and funny facial expression). He made contact many times. He keeps his head down much better than his mom! And then he chilled out while Andy and I finished taking some shots. I’m really glad I went.
I’m back this week, and I had some fun taking pictures of some yellow crayons.
I was surprised to find only four shades of yellow in our big box of crayons. I don’t know what I expected, but I guess I expected to find more than four! What other sunny yellow things did people find this week? Go over to Beth’s to find out! |
