After missing the diptych last week (I’m blaming the altitude while on my trip to Denver!), we’re back with our assignment for this week. It’s “book”. We’re “borrowing” ideas from Mental Inventory where she and a friend do “Team-Up Thursday”. We’re going to stay with Tuesdays for our posts, but you guys don’t really care what day we show up, as long as we show up! Right? Here’s Catheroo’s book shot for this week:

We’ve had some challenging topics over at I Should Be Folding Laundry for our You Capture assignments. This week it was “a moment”. I found our trip to Denver afforded me some suggestions. It only took us a moment to drive through valleys in the mountains, but it took years for the roads to be built.
I’m sure there was a moment in time when you didn’t find Starbucks on every street corner. Now, even a little town like Downieville has a Starbucks.
There was a frozen waterfall that looked like it got cold enough to freeze the water in just one moment.
And there were old buildings that for one moment were functioning, but now serve as reminders of life as it once was.
There are many more moments over at Beth’s.
I slacked last week and didn’t participate in Beth’s challenge to capture quiet. I was exhausted living a single parent’s life while Andy was in Ireland. I just didn’t have it in me to work on my blog. But I’m back, and I had a good time coming up with shots for this week’s assignment of “reaching”. There are many ways to interpret “reaching”. Literally:
A little less literal: Andy’s not exactly reaching for Caden, but he’s keeping his hands up to reach to catch him. This crocus is reaching for the sky. This tree is reaching for the sky (and what a beautiful sky it was!). This was a bit of a reach for me. These girls were walking through the neighborhood in shorts and tank tops. It was only 63 degrees today. But this is a common sight in Wisconsin when the weather starts warming up. Not for me, thanks! And finally, I just want to reach into this photo and grab my boys up in a giant hug! “Daylight” was a great choice of Catheroo‘s for this week’s diptych. We had tons of daylight last week, then went through a few days of fog and overcast skies. Today, the sun came out again. And now with daylight savings time, we’re able to enjoy the daylight even longer! First, here’s Catheroo’s shot for today. She discovered a carnival being set up near her house. I love the colors! And here’s my shot. We enjoyed the daylight and warmer temperatures after Noah got home from school today. Next week it will be my choice of theme for our diptych. I have some ideas… I was in charge of coming up with our theme this week, and Catheroo had to remind me at about 3:15 yesterday afternoon! I had some inspiration from Caden’s art project at school, though. First, here’s Catheroo’s shot of shapes. I think I remember these things floating around the house when I was little and my brother was still living at home. And here’s my shot. It’s Caden’s “Shape Snake”. They’ve been working on the letter “S” at school, and he was really hoping to talk about snakes. He’s quite knowledgeable about them now! It’s Catheroo’s turn to pick the theme for next week. I have an idea, but I’ll let her figure something out first!  Over at I Heart Faces, they have a “Fix-it Friday” challenge each week. This week I decided to play along. After Noah got home from school today, we stayed outside to play. Caden decided it was a great time to get out the baseball gear. I worked on pitching for a bit, then was thankfully relieved by Andy when he got home from work. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon, about 40 degrees, and just begging for play!

The had given up on the actual ball and started using snowballs. One more snowball explosion. Another sweet smile from Caden. It was a really fun afternoon! WOW! This is my 400th post! Unbelievable! I don’t have any giveaway or anything. I don’t get enough readership, besides my family and friends, and they are rewarded with my love every day! 🙂
Anyway, it’s time for You Capture again. This week, the theme is “Hopeful”. I’m hopeful that someday I will be agile enough to jump around and dance like these fine seniors when I’m in my 60’s and 70’s. Maybe even my 80’s! After my knee replacements, I should be good! (The guy in the back in the red hat was jumping around like a 20-year-old!) I’m hopeful that someday I’ll be able to drive this: Or this: I’m hopeful that all of this white stuff will be gone soon! I’m hopeful that there will be many evenings spent like this one, grilling burgers or fish or ribs, preferably with no snow on the ground and more light in the sky. I’m hopeful my boys and I will spend many days like this (minus the hats and winter coats!): What makes you hopeful? There’s a bunch of hope over at Beth’s this week! Since we’ve made our way through the rainbow, we’re on to new themes. This week, Catheroo chose “adorable” since it was the last thing I texted to her. Of course, I was talking about her sweet Penny! We keep taking shots of similar things. Weird! Catheroo chose to photograph her hubby, my brother, because she apparently finds him to be adorable. It is a great picture! And here’s my “adorable” shot for today. Of course it includes my sweet boys! Happy birthday Matte! We’ll see what word I come up with next week! |
