A good Saturday

This morning, we headed out to Oconomowoc Lake to spend a few hours at our friend, Becky’s parents’ house.  Another friend of ours, Doug, is house/dog-sitting while Becky’s parents are in Tahoe for Becky’s brother’s wedding.  We swam for a bit, and Noah is getting quite brave in the water.  Caden, not so much.  But we’ll practice more.  We took a pontoon boat ride around the lake.  There are some amazing houses out there.  Something to wish for.

It was a beautiful day out there.  It’s around 80 degrees today, sunny, with a nice breeze, so it was very comfortable in the boat.  Often when we’re there, it’s really hot, humid, with no wind at all so you just bake in the boat.  Today was a nice treat.

On the way home, I decided it was time to get off my lazy ass and go for a run, something I haven’t done in a few weeks.  Maybe not that long, but I can’t remember when I last did, so it feels that long!  It went okay.  I’m totally addicted to the “Mamma Mia!” soundtrack, and it kept me surprisingly motivated.  I’ve had the same workout playlist on my iPod for a while, so I know where in my run a certain song plays.  It can make my run feel very long.  Today, I was slightly surprised when I was on my last run/walk circuit (run 5 minutes, walk 1 minute-thanks Catheroo!).  I think it’s time to change up my workout playlist.

Anyway, I’m pretty sweaty right now.  But I’m feeling good about myself.  Now if I can just get back into a routine!

  • Good for you for going out running! I’ll be in “taper” mode when you’re here, but we should go out a couple of times!

This week, I tried a 3:2 ratio, and found that my running pace is faster when I run in smaller bursts. The longer walk time didn’t even make my overall pace slower. I’m digging it!
