I’ve set a pretty lofty goal for myself for 2010. I really want to take it up a notch with my photography. I want to improve my eye, my skill, and my creativity. I’ve heard that one of the best ways to improve in photography is to just take pictures. So that’s what I’m going to do.
Starting today, (Happy New Year!), I’ve joined a Flickr group called “Project 365”. The challenge of this group is to take a picture every day for a year. Sounds simple, right? We’ll see what I think of it in about three weeks!
Anyway, I was going to keep quiet about this, until I realized I need all the support I can get. So feel free to send me encouraging words, photo opportunities, or even heckling. Just let me know you’re out there!

Here’s your auntie’s support! You know, I was a shutter bug in my early years when the technology was a lot more daunting! Dark room and all!!!! I have very little to show for it and ran out of steam after the trip to Africa. I still have mountains of shots in a box! Oh dear, this doesn’t sound very supportive!!! I have to say I don’t think I had the eye and creative thought process I already see you bring to this medium. I think you have a very very good eye and I see a lot of personality in your work — humor; thoughtfulness; love. And maybe a lot more commitment than I had, too. Digital has made it so much more accessible to everyone, but it just makes it easy for most people to take awful pictures! You already bring a lot of talent to this work. I love looking at your pics (Okay, so I’m hopelessly in love with your main subject matter — the boys — but I do find the pics in and of themselves, incredibly entertaining!) You have magic in your work! Keep it up! Go girl! Yeah team! Sway to the left, sway to the right… (Just a little cheer leading to throw in!)
We can do this!!! We’ll just keep encouraging each other throughout the year. And we won’t put any crazy expectations on ourselves — just try to have lots of fun. 🙂
