Our little cherub

Noah is old enough to sing in the “Cherub Choir” at our church.  It’s for kids 3 years old to 1st grade.  When I first asked if he wanted to do it, he said “maybe when I’m older.”  We convinced him to take a shot.

He had his second rehearsal the other day, and it’s a trip to watch.  The kids have pretty much no attention span.  The teacher is trying so hard to get them to listen for a little while, to learn the next part of the song, and they’re looking all around, the girls are twirling their skirts, and Noah is wanting to have nothing to do with it.

I made the mistake of saying something to him about it during practice, and it turned into a crying meltdown.  If you ask him about it now, he says he felt a little scared, and his “tummy felt a little scared.”  He just doesn’t “feel like it.”  Okay.  But we’ve only got a few weeks to practice.  So we practice at home.

He does a great job at home.  I’m walking around with the song in my head all day because he sings it while he’s hanging out.  “Chatter with the angels, kneeling at the manger, chatter with the angels, Christmas morn.”  It’s actually really cute when he sings it.

So will he sing on December 2 in front of the whole church?  That is yet to be seen.

(If I can figure out my camcorder and how to get video clips on my blog, you’ll all be able to check it out!)
