If only it were this easy… See more Jack Black videos at Funny or Die
Today has been a pretty nice Sunday. Many of you may know that I often suffer from “S.A.D.” which I have renamed to “Sunday Affective Disorder.” It was especially bad in grad school when Andy lived in Appleton and I was still in Madison and we had to go our separate ways on Sundays. Now it still happens on occasion, especially after a fun-filled weekend. Well, today was not too bad! This morning, we started by decorating our Christmas tree. Yes, our tree is up and completely decorated now. Our living room is mostly decorated too, except for the mantle as I need the greens to decorate it. The boys were dressed in their jammies and Santa hats and everyone got along very well. After our decorating was done, I was off to Claim Jumper to meet four of my college roommates (one of whom I still see quite frequently) for lunch. We found each other on Facebook, and organized this lunch date. It had been at least 6 years since I had seen them, and it had been 7 years since we were all together, which was at my wedding! It was awesome to catch up with them, and amazing to hear what they’ve been up to. I hope we keep in touch. After lunch, I did some Christmas, birthday, and grocery shopping, then headed home to veg out for a bit before the boys got up. While I was out, the snow started. It hasn’t stopped. After the boys’ naps, we took them outside. Andy and Noah built a snowman and we all had a snowball fight. We all did some shoveling, then we took a walk around the block, which wasn’t the best idea when the wind picked up! But it was really fun to be outside as a family, enjoying the first real snowfall of the year. Overall, not too shabby of a day! Oh, and today ends NaBloPoMo-I DID IT!!! I’ll let you all know if I win anything (unlikely), and I’ll try to keep up with frequent postings (slightly more likely). But don’t expect me here every day! Thanks for reading! This afternoon we finally got to spend some time with my dear friend, Liz, and her three kids who live in Massachusetts. I say “finally” because rather than being in the Milwaukee area all week like originally planned, they have been in Chicago with family as her grandmother is not doing well. I’m so glad we got to spend a couple of hours together. It’s been over a year since we’ve seen each other. I hadn’t even met Elijah yet! After his health scare this past summer, it was nice to play with a healthy 9 month old! And my boys and Liz’s girls get along really well…at least they do as long as my kids aren’t getting overly excited and crazy! I got to practice some of my photography class stuff with Elijah, too! There are a few things I want to note today, so I’ll just run down a list: * A few days ago, Noah mentioned that one of his teeth hurt. My first thought was, “OMG, could it be a loose tooth?!” But then he pointed to one of his eye teeth or something, so I ignored it. Then last night, he mentioned it again. This time I actually put my hand in his mouth, and much to my surprise, I found a loose tooth! Holy s#*t! I called Andy upstairs and we showed him. His reaction: “Doesn’t that normally happen when you’re, like, 8?” Seriously! So I have a newly-turned-5-year-old with a loose tooth! Anyone know the going rate for the Tooth Fairy these days? * I had a verysuccessful shopping day today, checking off numerous names on my list. I didn’t get up at the crack of dawn and I think I got some pretty darn good deals. Never mind the smoking credit card in my purse! * This afternoon and evening Andy and I got to enjoy a movie, “Four Christmases” (very funny), and then a nice dinner at Firefly. I had the best sandwich I’ve ever had at a restaurant, or my house for that matter! It was called Mexican Chicken and it was pulled chicken, salsa, cilantro, and avocado on a roll. It made me confirm that Mexican food is my favorite genre of food. * I’m trying to figure out what happened to my posts from Monday and Tuesday? I know I posted on Monday-that was my great haircut day! I have no idea what I wrote on Tuesday, but I’m 98.9% positive I posted. WTF??? We’ve just gotten home (at 10:00 pm!) from a day full of feasting and fun. We started at Andy’s parents’ house for lunch and lounging. Then we headed to my parents’ house for more eating and visiting. It was an exhausting day, and I’m ready for bed! But I’m keeping in mind all that I’m thankful for: my family, my friends, my health, my home, my job, Andy’s job, and the ability to enjoy all of these things. I am truly blessed. Happy Thanksgiving! This evening we hosted 13 adults and 10 children (including us) for dinner and play. Everyone generously brought a dish to pass, and we ordered pizza. It was chaos, but a ton of fun. It’s also a great excuse to clean the house! Of the 10 kids, there were 3 boys (two of them mine!), and one newborn. She did remarkably well with the noise, especially with the marching band that kept making its way through the kitchen. The kids were loud, but played very well together. Overall it was a great evening! I was going to write about spending the evening cleaning the house to get ready for company tomorrow. Or I was going to write about how happy I am it’s finally Tuesday night because that means my four long days at work are over. Or maybe I could write about Caden’s sassiness at dinner tonight. Well, I’m not going to do any of that, because I’m exhausted and I can’t wait to go to bed! Nighty night! Tonight I got my hair cut. My friend, Day, cuts my hair, and she does a great job, despite the fact she’s still dealing with “morning” sickness and nursing a broken ankle! It’s been 4 months since I last got my hair cut. That’s a long time for me! I was definitely due. How does it look? My mom also goes to Day to have her hair cut. She went this past Saturday. Once I saw her haircut, I realized it was similar to what I was thinking of doing. But I explained to Day that I didn’t want the same thing as my mom. And I don’t think I got it! We both look pretty good, huh? This afternoon, I rushed home from a long day at work (after a long day at work yesterday, too!) to get bundled up to go to a local Christmas parade. It had a plethora of scout groups, high school marching bands, church floats, and candy tossers. Among the highlights were the Racing Sausages with Bernie Brewer, a hot air balloon burner that shot flames into the air, and, of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus. We have a vested interest in their arrival, as the boys know Santa and the Mrs. as Ken and Bobbie, the parents of Chuck’s girlfriend, Sara. In fact, Sara is an elf in the parade. Thankfully, the weather was relatively mild, especially compared to what we’ve been dealing with recently, and we had a good time. I’ve found a new blog to check out, My Charming Kids. She’s having a contest this weekend and the winner gets a blog makeover and some cool photography stuff, so I’m in. I’m kind of a sucker for that kind of thing! Here’s hoping! |
