On Friday night, we had our families over to celebrate Noah’s birthday. He was thrilled to find more Legos under the wrapping paper, along with more Star Wars stuff.

He also raked in a bunch of dollar bills from his aunt and uncle. Lizzy put her dollar bills in ever page of a picture book she got him. Noah had a great time finding all of the dollars!

Chuck put his money in a somewhat inappropriate card for a six-year-old, but it was typical Chuck! At least Noah didn’t catch the inappropriateness!

(The card on the inside asks what color the woman’s purse is. Andy’s dad said, “She had a purse?” and Noah said, “Green!” Then the card says, “If you said, ‘She had a purse?’ you’re still young!” Nice, Uncle Chuck!)
Later, Noah made it rain.

Then I did!

(It was fun to do, but it would have been much more fun if they were twenties!)
It was a great night of pizza, cake, presents and family.

(By the way, I’m going to take a shot at another NaBloPoMo this month. If anything, I want to post a picture every day. I need to challenge myself a bit! Here goes nothing!)
That’s how old Noah is today. He’s gone from this…

…to this…

…in the blink of an eye.
It was a great day. Noah’s off for Teacher’s Convention, so we took advantage of a weekday afternoon to have his birthday party at a local bowling alley. All I need to say is, thank goodness for bumpers! It would have been a very sad afternoon with all of the gutter balls they would have had! And how ironic is it that the youngest person at the party, Caden, ended up with the highest score?! He had three spares, and almost broke 100! I don’t always break 100 when I play!

Noah had a great time with his buddies, most of whom he doesn’t get to see as often as he’d like. He got some great presents, and they all got to eat some yummy cake (that I decorated with a Space Shuttle and stars, thankyouverymuch!). He even got a bowling pin that all of the kids signed. It was a terrific afternoon.

After dinner at Qdoba, we all headed home so Noah could open the rest of his presents from Andy and me. It is Lego world around here!
I wish I were more eloquent, or not so tired, because I’d write a lovely, moving letter to Noah. Maybe I’ll work on it and add it in later! No matter what, I need to say that I’ve loved Noah from the moment I laid eyes on him, and I’ve loved him more every moment since then. I can’t wait to see what’s to come.

I enjoyed the assignment this week. I’ve always loved the colors on the trees at this time of year. And when Beth suggested we take a drive and capture something new, I took advantage. It was a beautifully sunny day here last Saturday, just begging for me to head out for a drive to find some new fall foliage. Here’s what I found.

Geese are an extremely common occurrence around here at this time of year. There’s a field near our home where they tend to take a rest break as they fly south (which apparently is around here!), and you can often hear the geese “talking” to each other from our house.

These wild turkeys were crossing the street. They were sort of smart about it. There were three, and the first one got across, then the second and third had to back off to wait for traffic to clear. Then they hustled right across the street. Cool!

This last shot was in my parents’ neighborhood. I’m there a lot, so it wasn’t a new place to be, but I had never noticed this tree before. I love how the tree is multi-colored!
We’ve had some more nice days since then, and we’re trying to soak up any outdoor time we can, before we start to hibernate for the winter! Check out some more autumn shots over at Beth’s.

I really wasn’t sure if I felt like participating this week. I’ve been sick, so I’m just not up to full speed. Then I thought about the assignment, Technology, a little more, and realized I had a good idea.
I watch a lot of TV. A. LOT. I like it, okay? And ever since the advent of the DVR, I’ve been able to enjoy that much more!
My busiest TV night is Thursday. Here’s what my DVR looks like-in two shots because all of the recordings don’t fit on one screen!

I loves me some technology. What did we do before DVR??? Oh yeah, there were a lot of VHS tapes laying around.
Go over to Beth’s to see other techy stuff.

I have about a million pictures to edit from our awesome weekend in Las Vegas, and I’m just not that excited to do it. I’ve been recovering from the weekend, sleeping whenever possible. I haven’t even taken my camera out of the bag since Sunday. I think I just needed a break.
Anyway, the assignment this week was “still life” and it sounded like a bit of a challenge. But I guess that’s the point, no? Since I don’t have much desire to pull my camera out right now, I’m going to take my own liberties with this assignment.
As we flew to Vegas, it was morning, and I had a gorgeous view from my seat in the plane.

As I looked out over the mountains and valleys below, I just kept thinking about the people below, going about their business. I thought about those who may be enjoying the early snow on the mountains, or those who are happy to be down in the valley, away from the snow. Since it was a Thursday morning, I figured many below were preparing for a day at work or school. I wondered if anyone could see our plane, as Noah seems able to do with any plane flying overhead, no matter how far away that plane may be. It’s easy to feel far removed from everything when you’re flying halfway across the country. It’s like your own little world in an airplane. And what I kept thinking was, it’s
still life
as usual down there.

Go to see other still life shots at Beth’s.
While at the Neon Museum today, we found this old sign that says “Sassy Sally” and I figured it was the perfect backdrop for my last day of 7 Days!

We’re off to see Blue Man Group tonight! Can’t wait!
Seeing as I was in full-stress mode yesterday preparing for our awesome weekend in Las Vegas, I forgot to post this cool picture I took yesterday for 7 Days. The theme was “night” so I took my chances.

That’s my finger in the bottom left corner, trying to point to the North Star. It’s hard to do in the dark!
And here’s my contribution for today:

It’s my sweet hubby and me waiting to watch the fountain show in front of the Bellaggio. Not looking too bad after being up for close to 24 hours! It’s been a long day, and we’re stuffed beyond all stuffing after enjoying the Fall Tasting Menu at Tom Colicchio’s Craftsteak at the MGM Grand tonight. The food was delish, but my poor tummy isn’t used to all of that rich food! But it was totally worth it!
Tomorrow: the Neon Museum! I can’t wait!

It’s You Capture day, and I actually planned ahead as I’m heading out to Las Vegas for a long weekend with the hubby, my parents, my brother and sister-in-law, my aunt, and other friends and family members of my cousin’s to celebrate his 40th birthday. It should be a great weekend! More later…
Anyway, Beth challenged us to find the color red. It’s pretty easy around here. See, we’re a household of Wisconsin Badger fans. And red is Andy’s favorite color. And we’re not too scared of color in our house.

As always, head over to see other red captures!
As the countdown continues (the plane leaves in approx. 33 hours!), I keep preparing for our departure to Fabulous Las Vegas. One more thing to cross off the list-painting my toenails.

The stress is building, but as Andy put it tonight, we can’t wait to sleep in while we’re on vacation!
I really try my best to get my booty out of bed in the morning to go running. It’s much harder at this time of year as it’s still dark for about half of my run. So here’s how I dress for a run around my neighborhood at o’dark thirty.

This was taken this evening, as I don’t think clearly enough that early in the morning to get a picture of myself. Note the reflective vest and armband light to make myself a bit more visible. And around my waist is my new SPI Belt, which I LOVE. It can hold my iPod, cell phone, ID, a key and some cash if needed.
Once I’m out there, I usually feel pretty good. So as long as I get myself going, it is totally worth it.
